Natural Seal Restoration
About This Project:
Assessment: LIME initially met this homeowner to give an estimate on fixing his gutters. While there, the LIME Home Advisor noticed that the beautiful flagstone walk and patio were beginning to discolor, fade, and break down in areas. He then educated the homeowner on the benefit of sealing a masonry surface to resist against sun and moisture, and the homeowner approved of protecting the flagstone.
Advice: Typical LIME protocol is to do a consistent deep power wash of the surface with a commercial grade power washer. Due to the high pressure of the power wash, LIME utilized plastic in areas to ensure that mud and dirt was not passed to other parts of the property. Once the house was power washed, LIME bristle brushed darker spots. The homeowners did not want a “gloss” finish, so LIME advised them of a natural sealer that dries with no sheen and maintains the stones’ natural look. Due to the porosity of the stone, LIME recommended two coats, ensuring that there would be a layer of product that would cover the surface. Aesthetically there was not a huge transformation on this project, but there was a newfound peace of mind for the homeowners, as they now know they were protecting their flagstone.
